Among gossips that two reputed studios from Bollywood were inching to acquire the remake rights of Bengali film Bhooter Bhobishyot (future of the ghost), Ratan Jain, of Venus Records and Tapes Pvt Ltd, has gone ahead and bought the rights of the film.
Bhooter Bhobishyot is a story about a haunted house and its quirky inhabitants each coming from a different time zone. Though the spiritual inhabitants may be divided by their past, but in the mansion they sing, dance, romance, argue over hilsa and prawns and what not. But when the mansion is on the verge of being gobbled up by land sharks, the spirits unite to hatch a plan and scare off the promoters. The remake will see Satish Kaushik don the director’s hat after five years.
Confirming the news on telephone, Jain averred, “Indeed, I have bought the script of the rib tickler and have taken on board Satish Kaushik to helm the film; we start shooting in 30 days time.”
The film made last year under the direction of Anik Dutta, won many hearts and accolades for its witty script and oozing satire.
