The success of Ayushmann Khurrana (Vicky Donor) and now Sushant Singh Rajput (Kai Po Che) seems to have opened the doors for several other small screen actors who had been waiting for years for this opportunity to get onto the big screen space.
Next in line is talented but out of work Manish Goel who was last seen anchoring a women’s talent show Big Memsaab on Big Magic. It is being heard that he has now signed two films.

This would be the young actors second tryst with 70mm. He had come to Mumbai a decade ago after winning the Stardust Academy Competition (Delhi) and had signed six films. Unfortunately these films from a few big producers did not materialize. It is also rumored that Manish also turned down the critically acclaimed film Dhoop that eventually went to Sanjay Suri as the former did not want to do “arts” films then.
However, when we spoke to Manish he refused to comment on the new projects. A source says that Manish is superstitious and might be wanting to play safe after an earlier “not so good” experience. It’s a case of once bitten twice shy.
But Manish did clear the air on the past by saying that,“ The six films that I had signed after the Stardust competition were indeed a boost in terms of giving me confidence to move ahead. Though none of them went beyond the signing amount, I was too fresh and young to understand what was going on. But I was strong enough to look beyond them and move ahead. Post that, I worked as a crowd artiste for almost more than a year.”
He next turned to Dhoop and clarified, “the above film’s team was very clear that they didn't want a television actor.”
“I had also signed Saraakash & Bhabhi as a lead by then. And even if we were to pursue Dhoop... I had to quit both the above shows which I did not feel right about as after all, TV had positioned me very well by then and I owe my success to my producers who trusted me.”
All the best, Manish!!!
