Diya Aur Baati Hum
Star Plus’ Diya Aur Baati Hum (Shashi Sumeet Mittal Productions Pvt. Ltd.) is one show that has been dealing with social issues since day one. Taking this trend further, the story will now focus on honour killing. As seen so far, Mohit (Varunn Jain) is in love with Emily (Pooja Singh) but a few elder members of his family are against their marriage. However, Mohit’s mother Bhabho (Neelu Vaghela) and father (Ashok Lokhande) have given their assent to the same. Now they are seeking the permission of Masa. But, if sources are to be believed, the minute Masa will learn about Emily being a catholic, she will ask them to leave the house. And just as asked, Emily, Mohit and rest of the family members will start packing their luggage. This is exactly when Kajri (one of the villagers) will learn about Emily being from a different cast. She will go ahead and inform the Sarpanch about the same. The upcoming tracks will also show a flashback sequence of Kajri where her son was killed because he was in love with a girl from a different religion. It is because of this grouse, she would want the same to happen to Mohit and Emily. Furthermore, just before Mohit and the family are about to leave, the Sarpanch and his men will stop them. But, Mohit and Emily will manage to flee with Sooraj (Anas Rashid). When we contacted Varun, he said, “Yes, we will be concentrating on honour killings for a while but, I wouldn’t be able to reveal much as we still haven’t shot for it.” Keep reading this space for more updates.
