MUMBAI: Farhan Akhtar's 'Don' franchise has always been a favorite among fans of Indian cinema. After Farhan Akhtar revealed that Ranveer Singh would be playing the lead role in the third installment, there has been much speculation about the female lead. Today, it was announced that Kiara Advani has been cast as the female lead in 'Don 3', marking her first collaboration with Ranveer Singh.
The first two parts of 'Don' were led by Shah Rukh Khan, and the franchise has been a huge success at the box office. With Ranveer Singh stepping into the shoes of Don, fans are anticipating a new era for the franchise. However, before Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh, another actor was considered for the role - Hrithik Roshan.
Farhan Akhtar had expressed his desire to cast Hrithik Roshan in the role of Don. In an interview, he revealed, "I actually wanted Hrithik for Don. This was when I was just out of Lakshya, and we had hit it off fabulously. But then, when I slept on it, I felt that the role needed someone more mature, a face that had seen the world and roughed it out. Hrithik’s innocence didn't quite fit the role."
Regarding Kiara Advani's casting, a source told Bollywood Hungama, “Director Farhan Akhtar felt that Kiara fit the bill perfectly. Moreover, she has never been paired with lead actor Ranveer Singh before. Kiara, too, is excited to be a part of an exciting action franchise. She is looking forward to playing the stylish part and also collaborating with Farhan Akhtar and Ranveer Singh.”
The source also mentioned, “Until now, Kiara has proved her worth in romantic, intense, and comic roles. With 'Don 3' and 'War 2', she’ll make a mark in the action genre and thus emerge as an all-rounder actress.”
'Don 3' is scheduled for release in 2025, and fans are eagerly awaiting this new chapter in the popular franchise.
