MUMBAI: Actress Taapsee Pannu made her Bollywood debut in the 2013 film Chashme Baddoor, which was directed by David Dhawan. She said in a recent interview that her similarity to Preity Zinta was exactly what "brought" her into the Hindi film industry. Therefore, she has made every effort to look like Preity Zinta.

During a recent appearance on Dhawan Karenge, Shikhar Dhawan's show, Taapsee stated, “I was first brought into Bollywood because I share a resemblance with Preity Zinta. She has a very positive energy, and you know it well.”

“I felt like I had to live up to her reputation as I was brought into the industry because of her name. So, I always put in an effort to be like her,” she added. Taapsee also praised Preity and called her “lively and intelligent”.

In the meantime, earlier this year in Udaipur, Taapsee Pannu secretly married Danish badminton coach Mathias Boe. Taapsee talked about how she fell in love with Mathias in a recent interview.

“I think the fact that he is an athlete and someone who had won at the Olympics for a start… half the job was done there (laughs),” Taapsee told the popular news portal.

“I have always been very impressed and in awe of athletes who play for their country and play under extreme pressure without getting affected… It was not like a love-at-first-sight situation, for me at least—I took time to test if it’s really practical… the feasibility of the relationship was important for me.”

Taapsee continued, “I was obviously fond of him and respected him, and we kept meeting and I grew to love him. So falling in love didn’t happen in a month or instantly. It is a fact though, which I keep repeating in most interviews about him—when I met him I felt like I met a man. I had dated so many boys before him, and suddenly, I met a guy who didn’t feel like anyone I’d been with before. So there’s this sudden sense of security and maturity, which was so evident that I felt like ‘Okay, you’ve finally found the man’.”

Meanwhile, Taapsee Pannu last appeared with Shah Rukh Khan in Rajkumar Hirani's Dunki. Her upcoming film is Phir Aayi Haseen Dilruba, which is a follow-up to her well-liked thriller Haseen Dilruba.
