Two years is a long time, at least for someone who is used to working 16 hours a day. And it has been two years since I have done something on television! Naturally, I was very excited when I started Sangini on Zee TV.

Two years is a long time, at least for someone who is used to working 16 hours a day. And it has been two years since I have done something on television! Naturally, I was very excited when I started Sangini on Zee TV.
In the last two years, everyone – be it the media or my fans – has been asking me about my career and what my plans were. But since I was not doing anything new or significant, I did not feel like sharing it. I was waiting for the right opportunity to come and it finally came in the form of Sangini.
In the last two years, a lot has changed in television. It has become more rustic, the flavours are more regional and driven by particular languages. Unfortunately, I am not very fond of that and do not want to see myself doing that.
Most people I interact with often ask me why I opt for romantic roles and my standard answer to them is that God has been very kind to me. All my characters from Angad (Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai), Shiv (Karam Apna Apna), Abhimanyu (Choona Hain Aasman) and Shankar (Waaris) have been well accepted by my fans. Though I have done few shows, I have done good quality ones and I strongly believe that Sangini will also have the same impact.
I feel the television industry is controlled by the content and not by actors or stars. If some actor thinks a show is successful because of him, he is not right. Content is king here.
Though most of my shows have been successful, I must also say that the biggest learning came from the failure of two of my most ambitious projects – Fun2ssh and Bullet. Both these films flopped and the struggle I had to undergo after that was unimaginable.
I am very lazy by nature but when it comes to interacting with my fans, I am proactive. My wife Sneha checks my mails and social networking accounts regularly and keeps me updated about everything that is going on. I am lucky to have her.
I feel if you are honest with your work and give it your best, you should not worry about anything.
