My biggest competitor is ‘myself’: VJ Andy Kumar

After being all sassy and cheeky in the house of Bigg Boss season 7, VJ Andy is all ready to light up the sets of Jhalak (Colors) with his moves and grooves in its seventh season. Andy was already seen to be dancing to the tunes of Besharam for a recent Jhalak’s media conference with his dance partner Bhavini Misra. The television host spoke with grace and poise as he described the qualities of a good dancer. The Punjabi munda has hosted teenage shows such as Dare To Date on Channel V and What’s With Indian Women on the channel Fox Traveler. As mentioned earlier, it was Bigg Boss a year earlier and now it’s the glamorous Jhalak and Andy Kumar seems to be excited as ever. “I am very excited as I am so happy to be a part of this show. It was obviously Bigg Boss and earlier it was hosting India’s Got Talent and now it’s Jhalak. I am very excited for this show as it going to allow me to express my feelings and help me learn a lot and will also make me fit again.” So does Andy have any tough contenders? “I have to say that my biggest competitor is myself. My mental space has to be absolutely perfect. I am someone who is very sensitive from laughing to crying and I think everyone’s seen that on Bigg Boss. I need to be in the right frame of mind and once I am in it I can do anything.” Andy has replaced his precious hours of sleep with dancing day in and day out. “I think definitely grace, poise and also the determination to do well are more important. You also need to put in hours if you want to get results.” Well, will he implement his strategies in the form of determination and grace on the floors of Jhalak? Bhavini Misra agreed saying, “He has amazing determination and also he is very hard working and you will get to see that in his performances. It’s not been easy for him as there have been times in life where he has just got up and moved on. What you’ve seen in Bigg Boss is just one variation of him. From a choreographer’s point of view, there is a lot of technique that has to be applied to any style of dance. He is trying to learn different styles within a short period of time compared to trained dancers who generally take a couple of months to learn it completely. Keeping the fact that he has spine and shoulder problems, he has not complained or shied away from pushing hard.” There always has to be a sudden twist in the story. The twist in Jhalak this season is Shakti Mohan, whom most of the contestants feel insecure about in terms of adversary. “If you’ve looked who has won Jhalak before it’s always been someone who is been through many difficulties and has bloomed victorious. Everyone is a competitor and everyone will be contributing something in terms of dance.” You may have also come across the tagline ‘Vote for Andy’ in Bigg Boss. The fun loving VJ responded saying this when we inquired further about his voting strategy, “I think it’s the connection of oneself with the audience and the way you keep yourself connected to them will bag a fair prize in the end.” All the best Andy!!!
