MUMBAI :Sudha Kongara Prasad, better known as Sudha Kongara is one of the finest directors from the Indian film industry. In a film industry that is male dominated, especially the Pan India space, Sudha has managed to make a place for herself and carved a niche in the filmmaking world, inspiring other women filmmakers.

Sudha has predominantly worked in Tamil and Telugu cinema. Born on 29th March 1971, in a Telugu-speaking family in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, Sudha has a degree in History and Mass Communication from the famous Women's Christian College in Chennai.
She began her career as a screenwriter and was the screenwriter for Revathi’s Mitr, My Friend (2002). She has also worked as an associate director with Mani Ratnam. She made her directorial debut in 2008 with the Telugu film Andhra Andagadu. In 2010, she hit the jackpot with her Tamil debut with the film Drohi.

Sudha has directed 8 films in her career that include Drohi, Irudhi Suttru / Saala Khadoos, Soorarai Pottru, and Paava Kadhaigal. She is one of the most popular filmmakers as she invests immense amounts of time in building the characters in her film and also the female characters in her film are always strong and unapologetic, which has won her a huge fan following. All her films also have a very important social message.

What really brought Sudha into the limelight is the film Soorarai Pottru for which she won two National Awards; Best Screenplay and Best Feature Film. It is reported that she will direct Akshay Kumar in its Hindi version as well.
