It appears that Anupama will get the worst shock of her life when she learns that Prem loves Rahi but is getting engaged to Mahi. Everyone at Shah House will be perplexed by this since Prem was in love with Rahi yet consented to marry Mahi.
Since there is no use in being in a relationship with someone you are not in love with, Mahi would be perceived as upset with Anupama for allowing Prem to leave Mahi and supporting Prem and Rahi's love.
Despite their remorse, Prem and Rahi are accepted by Anupama. However, Mahi plays the victim and believes she is not Anupama's daughter, thus Anupama readily permitted Prem and Rahi to be together.
