Ekta Kapoor's TRP-guzzling prime time drama Yeh Hai Mohabbatein on Star Plus has become a hit with the audiences not only for the twists and turns in the story, but also for the characterisation of the Bhallas, the middle class family caught up in various issues. Based on Manju Kapoor's novel 'Custody', this show has achieved a cult status among the audiences. While we wait to see who finally wins the battle of the children's custody, we tell you why the Bhallas- Raman, Ishita, Ruhi and others, make for an interesting family. Read on:
Close-Knit and Affectionate:
Despite the confusion and constant twists and turns, the Bhallas are a close-knit family. They are affectionate, genuinely interested in each other's problems and make sure that they solve them. It's amazing to see such a family on the small screen. If you thought only drama binds them together, you've obviously not been following the show dedicatedly!
Love is the X-factor:
The running theme of the series is the unconditional love among the leading characters. Be it the bond that the Punjabi Raman and his Tamilian wife Ishita share or the latter's affections for Raman's child from his first marriage, love dominates everything. Perhaps it's love that keeps the family sane because they have to deal with so many twists and unexpected situations. It takes a special kind of effort to make your step-daughter love you with all her heart.
Mature Handling of Delicate Issues:
When Indian soap operas have a tendency to go overboard with the acting and plot, this show sticks to the issues at hand without dramatising the scenes. That definitely reflects in the Bhallas too as they handle their delicate issues with maturity. Despite Raman being hot-headed, he knows what and whom to prioritise and how to win the heart of his family. The same applies to the caring, understanding and responsible Ishita who keeps the Bhallas together with her sacrificing nature. No other daughter-in-law would have adapted her in-laws like this. She is definitely one of the main pillars of the Bhalla household, don't you agree?
Ruhi Makes Things Happen:
Another person who makes the Bhallas such a hit is the adorable little girl Ruhi. She is mature, understanding, brave and stands up for her step-mother aka Ishi maa's honour. At a tender age, she has seen a lot of upheaval and knows the value of family and relationships. Perhaps that reflects in her interactions with her family members too. It's no wonder that her parents take a cue or two from her in the behavioural department. It's true that a child is the backbone of a family because it's her/his upbringing that shows the family's true values. With such an amazing little thing, it's not surprising that the Punjabi family is one of the most loved on the small screen!
