Shaleen Bhanot who was our last guest editor at the Tellychakkar anniversary party chose to interview his Do Hanso Ka Joda co-star Shubhangi Atre. He called her up and without introducing himself said, ‘I love you’. She was naturally taken aback and stopped responding till Shaleen laughed and informed her that he was the guest editor for the day and was going to interview her.

Why did it take you so long to select a show?
Actually there were a few offers but I was not willing to take up anything. Then I got this offer to play a very dreamy Preeti. I liked this character a lot as it was different from what I did on TV. Plus Rajshris is a big production house so there was no way I was going to refuse it.
How comfortable are you with Shaleen as your co-star?
I am always lucky to get good co-stars to work with. I get to learn so many things from them. Shaleen is also a very nice person and he treats me so well on the sets, therefore I feel good to work with him.
What upsets you most about Shaleen?
There is no particular thing I can point out, but he should leave some food for me from my tiffin! Otherwise he is perfect, a good co-actor and very friendly. (To this, Shaleen promptly replies, “I will not stop eating your lunch. It is not possible.”
Tell us a memorable incident on the sets.
There are lots of memories about this show, we shoot together and have fun on the sets. I love to cook food, so sometimes I bring food for the entire unit and they all compliment me for it. So it feels great.
Is Shaleen better as Suryakamal?
Of course he is the best as Suryakamal; he is a good actor and plays this one smartly.
What is your husband’s reaction to your on screen chemistry with Shaleen?
He likes Suryakamal’s character a lot and in fact he is waiting to see more of Preeti and Suryakamal’s romantic sequences.
One thing you want to change about Do Hanso Ka Joda?
I like the concept of a very bubbly girl getting married to a simple guy, however I think they should play this drama more than that of Preeti’s mother-in-law ill treating her. I want Preeti to be bolder.
Any particular role you want to play on screen?
I want to play many different characters than whatever I have done so far. I am happy about the kind of responses I am getting for Preeti’s role. I am a hungry actress, so even if someone offers me an unusual role then I will not think twice before accepting it.
