MUMBAI: Rakshabandhan... Rasal Apne Bhai Ki Dhal actor Ajay Sharma has opened about playing a father on the small screen. "It's the first time I'm playing a father on TV, so it was quite challenging to do a role in which you don't have any prior experience," he said about playing Ratan Singh in Rakshabandhan... "It's different from all the previous roles that I have done so far because being a Rajasthani myself, I can relate to the concept of the show which is set in the backdrop of Marwari. I know the dialect and lingo, so I have an added advantage in performing my character to its optimum," he said. Asked if there are any apprehensions of joining a show midway, he said, "It's a bonus if the show already has a fanbase. In a new show, there's always a risk of not to be accepted by audiences. Plus, my role is quite different from all the other established roles, so I think I'll have my fair share of likings too." He feels that since the show is based on siblings' relationships and camaraderie, it is relatable amongst audiences as they can personalize with the emotions. "The title Rakshabandhan is a well-celebrated festival across India," he said.
Rakshabandhan... is produced by Yash Patnaik and Mamta Patnaik (Beyond Dreams). Talking about working with producers Yash and Mamta Patnaik, Ajay said, "I was in talks with Beyond Dreams in past as well, but this is the first time I've had the pleasure of working with them. They are a very good team of producers. They believe in their concepts and know for sure that audiences will be able to cherish the story they are unfolding on screen."
