Anjali Anand: I need to get back to work

MUMBAI: Anjali Anand, who was last seen in 'Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala', recently posted a picture decked up in traditional attire and a sulking expression, captioning it: Koi Bulao Toh Sahi. The actress was hinting at how so many people are out of work during the pandemic and it is high time she gets back to work on the sets.

When we asked her if she was hinting at looking for work opportunities, she said, "Of course. This pandemic has hit us hard. We don’t have salaries, all our savings are getting over, because we haven’t worked in months. Also, I don’t feel there’s anything wrong in looking for work as professionals call companies and land interviews. We have Instagram to let people know we are ready to get back on the floor."

She added, "I stopped shooting for 'Kullfi' in Feb. And then in March we all went into a lockdown. We were obviously not prepared. The momentum we gathered has gone, and we have to start from zero again. I didn’t put up the post for anything other than it being hilarious and relevant, because I’m sure there are many actors sitting at home and waiting for that phone call and I knew they would connect. People think actors have an air about them and wouldn’t be cool with asking for work, but I think there’s nothing wrong with it. I was inspired when Neena Gupta had used the social media for work opportunities. Social media does generate work sometimes; and sadly we have to be active or be lucky enough to bag something out of it. I think productions all over the world have started to shoot with utmost precaution and I wouldn’t mind shooting now if proper rules and sanitation is followed."

Ask the actress about her show ending abruptly and she said, "I really don’t know. I just know I have to go to work everyday and do my best. I don’t think about anything beyond that. It was a wonderful show and I got to learn so much about myself in the process."

Anjali admits she is looking for interesting roles. She said, "After 'Kullfi', I think the industry just shut shop, so there wasn’t any scope for offers. All we can do is hope to get out of this situation and the world survives this unfortunate time. I think the idea of a normal has changed and I am hoping that people will emerge stronger out of this."
