MUMBAI: Ever since the onset of Television entertainment in the early 2000's Ekta Kapoor brought about a revolution in the way TV Entertainment and TV stars were viewed. She brought about a culture of the original 'K-Dramas' that were viewed with the intensity of any pop culture event ever.
Indian Households were and are still hooked to what Ekta Kapoor produces and to say it is not good entertainment would be a lie.
When one thinks of Balaji Telefilms, the things that cross your mind are the grand sets, the unique storylines, the mega dramas, and especially the family-centric ensembles.

Be it 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi ...', 'Kasauti Zindagi Kay, Kumkum Bhagya or one of her most-watched series Naagin or the very beloved 'Bade Acche Lagte Hai'. All of these Mega Shows had grand casts.
In a career spanning over Decades and in a long rich history of collaborations and iconic characters, Ekta Kapoor is still ruling the small screens, it is as if she had the secret handbook to make the perfect TV especially in terms of viewership loyalty because her shows run for very long times with her introducing new plotlines and characters arc and bringing in fresh talent to hold on to the strong base created.
Years later the formula seems the same but there is some difference because the grand Ekta Kapoor Ensembles are getting sidetracked. Even though shows like Naagin and Bade Acche Lagte Hai 2 introduce casts with grandeur and with equal importance to the storyline but the other characters than the main lead and whoever's storyline are running parallel is getting all of the focus and others just disappear over a span of a few weeks.
For Example, Bade Acche Lagte Hai 2 was launched promoting the fact that it had more than 15 Characters that would be ever-present but now even the antagonist come and go as they please. So many of the characters don't even appear in the show half of the time and they take no liberty to explain the absences.
Even with the New Version of 'Kasauti Zindagi Kay', when Hina Khan was replaced by Aamna Sharif and Mr Bajaj Karan Singh Grover by Karan Patel, it's as if the audiences are okay with seeing characters change and shift but characters get sidetracked like in Bade Acche Lagte Hai Anjoom Fakih was missing in action for a while and there was no explanation.
The audiences watch these shows with a lot of attention and had this to say.
Nidhi Dhankar says, "I started watching the show BALH2 for Ram and his friends but you just don't see them anymore."
Anuja Garg says, "In Kasauti they brought so many characters but all of them eventually just disappeared without any explanation and they introduced these characters as so important."
Khushi Jain says, "The Big families and friends arc is fun to watch so many things can happen to the story it doesn't limit to one hero, one villain agenda."
Nishant Singh says, "I mean it's not important to have 10 people to give the same level of importance to in the story if you are not going to do them justice."
Gayatri Sethi says, "I like Big Ensembles, it adds a touch of interest to other storylines as well. And It just doesn't make the show about one thing but a complete family drama."
Well, these Shows have made a home for themselves in the eyes of the audiences. And they do go with the flow but also stand strong by what they like and what they don't.
