MUMBAI: Indian television shows have been a part of the audience's daily lives for a long time now. Over time, the type and platform of content changed a lot but people still wish to go back to television dramas and call it their comfort zone.
But even though the shows are highly loved, there is something very common and cliché about them. In almost all the shows, the male protagonists are shown as the most powerful, and in a way they are always able to fight off in action sequences. They always fight multiple goons together and remain unharmed in the end. It rarely happens that they get hurt, mostly they beat the goons and the goons fall unconscious in just a couple of punches.
The netizens have expressed disappointment regarding the same. Here is what they had to say:
Shweta Pandey: It is always fun to watch the male hero fight off the goons but after a point, it has gotten so repetitive that it has become predictable. It also feels quite unrealistic. Either the protagonist needs to get hurt a little or he needs more people on his side because it is really hard to believe that one man fights off multiple goons.
Preesha Mehra: I fail to understand the strategy here. I know that it looks fun when the hero beats up the goons but it feels so unauthentic that you stop believing in the story for a short period because you are unable to relate.
Fatima Sheikh: I understand it is all fictional but there needs to be some balance and authenticity. Either the hero gets bruised a little or at least has to engage in the fight longer because the goons cannot fall unconscious with just a punch. They are definitely going to need more than that. Unless he is a superhero it’s too much.
Riyan Surana: I wish after so many years, there was some authenticity in Indian television. They are still trying to for a mass appeal instead of trying to show something real. If a man in real life fights with multiple men at the same time, he is bound to get hurt and that too badly. I understand the makers wish to show the hero is powerful but there needs to be some sense of reality to it so that the audience connects better.
