MUMBAI: Reality shows as becoming a craze in the country as people do love watching them. They connect to every contestant.
But these days, viewers feel that the essence of reality shows has faded, and these contestants are hopping from one show to another. They either become winners or runners-up of the show.
There is no new contestant to watch out for, and half the contestants have been seen in some previous shows.
For example, Indian Idol 10 winner Salman Ali was previously seen on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and was one of the finalists of the show. Neelanjana Ray, who was declared as the winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 2022, was the second runner-up of Indian Idol Season 10.
They are many such contestants who have been swapped from one show to another where they have either been finalists on one show or then won the other.
The audiences feel that contestants from other shows shouldn’t be given a chance if they are already been finalists or runners-up. The other contestants who haven’t got their chance to showcase their talent lose out on an opportunity.

This is what the audience had to say about this new trend.
Rahul Sharma: Reality shows have become a joke these days where the contestants and the winners of the show don’t look real. They either look fake or planned. Sometimes, we have seen some of the contestants on the other show where they lost, and suddenly, after a few years, they will come on another show and lift the trophy, which I am unable to understand.
Pia Das: I don’t understand the concept of declaring a winner who has already been a runner-up or finalist on another show. It doesn’t make sense as someone who is very raw and new should be getting the opportunity to take the trophy home and not someone who has already been a finalist or runner-up on the show.
Kabir Khan: Winners these days on reality shows have become a joke and we all know that things are pre-planned and they don’t follow the voting terms. Today, reality shows have become a crisscross of contestants from one show to another and it becomes a repetition.
Sonia Singh: New talents wouldn’t get a chance as makers of reality shows give chances to contestants who have taken part on other shows and new ones get sidelined. In the audience’s mind, already the talent of the previous one is stuck so they don’t vote for them. On the other hand, constraints who have been runners-up on other shows become winners and take the trophy home.
Well, this is the harsh reality of reality shows.
