MUMBAI : On August 21, 1984, Barun Sobti was born in Delhi, to a Punjabi family. Barun Sobti left Jindal Telecom after nearly seven years of employment to pursue a career in acting. His Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? the character, Arnav Singh Raizada, is a cult favorite in every country where Indian daily soap operas are televised. Many still believe it to be among the best written imperfect romantic characters ever.

After Asur, in which he portrayed the tortured but unwavering forensic specialist Nikhil Nair, everyone started to recognize Barun Sobti as a talented actor. Sobti played the morally dubious Punjabi policeman Amarjit Garundi in the Netflix series Kohrra in 2023. It was among the year's greatest performances.
Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?
Barun Sobti became an overnight heartthrob with Gul Khan's show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? where he played the role of Arnav Singh Raizada. While the character is termed as problematic by some, there is no denying that Barun Sobti made Raizada very desirable with his charming performance. It is one of the most watched Indian TV shows all over the globe, in over 100 countries. Sanaya Irani and he set the screen ablaze with their terrific chemistry. The show has immense repeat value, with the romantic clips having millions of views on YouTube.
Asur
Barun Sobti's career as an actor was transformed by Oni Sen's sitcom, Asur. He portrays forensic specialist Nikhil Nair, who is enlisted by his erstwhile boss Dhananjay Rajput (Arshad Warsi) to find a serial killer who believes he is the demon Kali's reincarnation. Nikhil was a strong, edgy, vulnerable, and righteous character, and Sobti perfectly captured every nuance of it. Fans are currently awaiting the scripted release of Asur 3.
Kohrra
Suvinder Vicky and Barun Sobti were both playing really well at Kohrra. Even though the Netflix series doesn't have many exciting moments, it encourages viewers to reflect on all fronts. Sobti portrayed the morally dubious assistant sub-inspector Amarjit Jaspal Garundi. It's not a very endearing character, having had an affair with his older sister-in-law for years and been involved in acts of police brutality. One of the best dramas available on OTT in India is Kohrra. Throughout his career, Sobti has previously been in two renowned online series: Kohrra and Asur.
'The Great Indian Dysfunctional Family'
The characters Barun Sobti and Kay Kay Menon played in this ALT Balaji production were brothers. The story revolved around two brothers who, after a long separation, move live together. In classic Bollywood fashion, it caters to fans of the family drama genre even though the packaging is new. Samar Ranaut was portrayed by Barun Sobti.
