MUMBAI : A significant Hindu holiday, Chhath Puja is mostly observed in the Indian states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and portions of Nepal. The Sun God (Surya) and his consort Usha are worshipped there. During the celebration, people offer prayers and gratitude to the Sun for supporting life on Earth and fostering wellbeing.
It is one of the few celebrations that is devoted only to worshipping the Sun, which is said to be a representation of vitality and life. Devotees look to the Sun God's blessings for wealth, contentment, and their family's welfare.
Chhath Puja acknowledges the importance of the Sun in sustaining life on Earth. It is believed that through this festival, devotees seek the Sun’s blessings for health, wealth, and success.
