MUMBAI: Pooja Sahu plays Mandira Chachi in Dahej Daasi, starring Raghuvir Shekhawat and Ravindra Gautam, says she is happy to work on one program at a time unless there are some serious problems, such with her character or the team's behavior.
She said, "Most actors are opportunists and want to grow, but for me, it's different. Whatever role I'm playing, if I'm happy, content, and satisfied with the work, I never leave it midway. Based on my experience, I have a record of not quitting any job unless there's a significant problem, such as dissatisfaction with my role, the atmosphere, people's behavior, or the production team's conduct."
"Until such major issues arise, I don't abandon any project halfway. I believe opportunities come and go, but staying stable in one place is equally important. I'm the kind of person who, if happy with the work, continues with it as long as the project is running," she added.
"When opportunities come up, it's hard to do another serial while working on one because you're already dedicating 20-25 days to it. I don't like overloading myself with work. If I'm happy with the serial I'm working on, I prefer to stay with it. However, if I get opportunities for ads or OTT projects, I definitely want to take those on," she further added.
"I do events and similar work unless a new opportunity comes along that could significantly elevate my career beyond my current project. So, I usually evaluate if the new role is better, offers more fame, or is a significant step up. If it is, I consider leaving my current project; otherwise, I stay where I am," she added.
Pooja also mentioned how crucial the set environment is to the performance, particularly for her comedic roles. "To perform comedy, you need to stay light-hearted, so I try to keep a light and happy demeanor on set with everyone. This helps me get into character. If you're playing a negative role, you can channel anger into your performance, but for comedy, it's much harder to perform well if you're not in a good mood," she said.
"Regardless of the job, whether it's acting, working in a corporate setting, or any other field, if the atmosphere isn't good and the people aren't supportive or friendly, it definitely affects your work and performance. So, having a positive environment is very important," she ended.
