Does Life OK have a biased marketing ploy for its shows?

Life OK
The marketing strategy of Life OK channel has left us a bit baffled. The broadcaster has been planning the launch of three interesting shows of three different genres over the weekend and this week. While we saw the dark concept of a common man taking law into his hands Rakshak going on air finally over the weekend, today is the D-day for the launch of Tumhari Paakhi and Season 2 of Kaisa Yeh Ishq Hai – Ajab Sa Risk Hai. However, there has been a clear difference in the way the channel has gone about promoting these shows. While the Shashi-Sumeet Productions’ venture Tumhari Paakhi has got the best of promotions, Siddhant Cinevision’s re-launch with a new season of Kaisa Yeh Ishq Hai has been cold shouldered a bit. But the project which has been at the receiving end with literally no promotion whatsoever has been Rakshak, the much-awaited offering from the stables of Shakuntalam Telefilms. What is the reason for zero-publicity of Rakshak when compared to the other new launches? Is Life OK showing a biased approach? A reliable source tells us that Rakshak was once upon a time touted to be a game changer in terms of television viewing. Its dark concept and story-telling was expected to capture the imagination of the audience. However, with time and with the number of controversies the show got into (our article earlier on Rakshak explained the various pitfalls it encountered), it was literally thrown to the back seat by the channel. Since the minimum number of episodes was shot, the channel decided to air it post all the controversies. But they made a conscious decision to not promote the show in any manner. In fact, they took the decision of non-promotion very late and this apparently alarmed the production house too. The source further said that the thought process of the channel behind this was that they did not want to grab quite a lot of limelight from this dark show, and invite legal problems considering the strict rules that the I & B Ministry is following these days. Hence they decided to nudge away Rakshak. We sent a text message to Ajit Thakur, General Manager, Life OK to know the exact reason of not promoting Rakshak, but did not get a revert from him till the time of filing the article. We also reached Producer of Kaisa Yeh Ishq Manish Goswami to know about the promotional priorities that his show got from the channel, but we could not get him. On the other hand Producer Shyamasis Bhattacharya of Shakuntalam Telefilms opted not to comment on the issue. If we get any official response from the channel in the hours to come, we shall update it for our readers right here. Keep watching the space!!!
