Known for his roles in the television series Arjun, Friends: Condition Apply, Twisted Wala Love and Ishq Subhan Allah, Adnan Khan is a prominent Indian actor who works in both television and movies.
TellyChakkar got in touch with the actor to talk about his new show and the expectations.
This is the official adaptation of a show that has already set a benchmark, what are your feelings about it?
I think every story has a challenge and an aspect, that is a little difficult to portray. For me, when they told me the story, it wasn’t like oh my god, or oh no. But rather, a feeling of how I would be able to do this character and the layers that there are, which was exciting for me. Now that we are doing press for it, I am finding out that this topic for Indian television is slightly different and I am very interested to see how I pull this off.
The promo of the show has created a lot of intrigues and people are left wondering what the show is actually about and what your character is like?
I feel that the two characters over the course of the show are also very reserved and don’t show their internal feelings out loud. The promo kind of captures that and Viaan basically is someone who is emotionally scared because of certain things that have happened in his past. He has all kinds of defense mechanisms and because all these walls that are so high; he doesn’t talk much, doesn’t make friends easily and his views on certain things are very different, because of which people want to stay away from him more. He likes to be in control because he has lost control once. So now, he like to piece everything together.
How nervous or excited are you for this show? Because there have been adaptations before, there will be a lot of expectations and comparisons, does that play a factor?
I don’t even think that far. For me, it is the most basic thing here; there is a beautiful story, and I want to be able to do my part as best as I possibly can. All the other things, about how we do, and what the world thinks, come in later. I am not comparing this show to anything. For me, it is a beautiful story, tough and challenging for the actors, with a great cast and we plan on giving it our best.
Katha Ankahee will premier on the 5th of Decemeber on Sony TV from Monday to Friday at 8:30 PM and stars Adnan Khan and Aditi Sharma in the lead roles.
