MUMBAI: SAB TV's show Maddam Sir has been entertaining viewers for a very long time.
The light-hearted cop-drama has managed to create a special place in everyone's hearts, and viewers are in love with the beautiful storyline and positive message given by the show.
Maddam Sir has some of the finest actors who are making sure that they not only impress us with their excellent performance but also entertain us with their rib-tickling comedy.
Ashwani Rathore is seen as Iqbal's character on the show and has various shades.
TellyChakkar got in touch with Ashwani, who spoke at length about his character and much more.
His character Iqbal and its rising importance...
When I started off with the show, my character wasn't given that much importance. My character was used in some scenes. The makers liked my performance after an episode. They decided to increase my track. My character is used mostly during the mission or cracking the cases.
Playing a woman's character and getting popularity for it...
I played Dimple Bhabhi's character in the show. It is fun to play such a character and challenging at the same time. I have played such a role and also portrayed a eunuch. A small scene was written for Iqbal's character who turns into a woman. The channel loved the character of Dimple Bhabhi and wanted this character to appear frequently. So, I am often seen in that avatar. I truly enjoy doing it. I was quite hesitant at first before. Also, I was sceptical but I got used to it. I felt that I was getting typecast for playing a woman's role. I was constantly getting offers for the same. But I don't fear it.
Studies, acting, and jobs...
I hail from Uttar Pradesh, and I came to Mumbai to pursue acting. I was quite good at my studies. In fact, I was a topper. I was also good at sports. I used to love studies. I was a bit confused about my career choices. I was pretty good at many things but I was always focused on my studies. I could have done something in that field. My family didn't support too much in the beginning. My mom and my uncle supported me. I worked as a caretaker during Navratri celebrations and that's how I earned money in my struggling days. I used to walk from one place to another for work when I fell short of money. I am still studying now. But I don't want to have any degrees just for the sake of it.
Maddam Sir stars Gulki Joshi, Sonali Naik, Yukti Kapoor, Bhavika Sharma, Rahil Azam, and Priyanshu Singh, among others.
