MUMBAI : A lot of new shows are in the pipeline which will soon go on floors. There are some that are all set for a launch in the upcoming days. Rest are already on air and entertaining the viewers.
Shows about the supernatural and mystic have become quite the rage. With VFX-dependent storylines, magical and sometimes scary creatures, it's the genre that has caught the audience's fascination.
Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd. is all set to bring a new show for Shemaroo Umang, titled Razz Mahal, which will star Ridhiema Tiwari, Himanshu Soni, and Neha Hersora.
Ridhiema Tiwari is an Indian television and film actress. She is famous for portraying the characters in television serials including, Do Dil Ek Jaan, Sasural Genda Phool, and Ghulaam.
She is recognized in Bollywood for her debut film Begum Jaan in 2017.
She will now be seen in Raaz Mahal in the role of Chandralekha.
TellyChakkar got in touch with the actress to talk about her new show and her character.
How did you bag the role of Chandralekha in the show?
“The lines were shared with me and I prepared for the role. I then asked for a narration because for preparing, it is important you know the entire canvas of the character. Even for an audition, you need to know the backdrop of the character and how the story is moving ahead with it. For this show, it was important for me to know what is leading to the events in the Raaz Mahal. Chandralekha is the pivotal character leading the story and that became the driving force for me even in the audition. I felt the power of the character then and there when I gave my audition. I felt an expansion within me as an artist and made me immediately say yes to it. I have never played such a dark and evil character. It is quite challenging but it is important for an artist to go beyond their limits. I didn’t want to let go of this opportunity”
What were your thoughts and first reaction when you heard the narration of your character and the plot?
“I was really amazed when I first heard the narration. The audience has always loved such characters and story lines. But for me, it was the first time that I was going to be a part of a fantasy drama. Fantasy drama usually showcases events which are beyond imagination and it lets an actor let go of inhibitions. For me, fantasy drama was one reason why I jumped at the opportunity. Secondly, it is purely entertainment for the audience. It is very important for me to cater to the audience’s needs.”
There have been shows of the same genre earlier too. What new and different will the audience get to see?
“The narrative of the show is different and so is the VFX. You have never seen such VFX on television, nor have I. The kind of stuff I am doing in the show, I have not seen it in other shows. The execution is very different and super fine. There must be different shows of the same genre but this is not on the same lines. The energy of everyone in this show is so different and this is not a regular show. Till the time the excitement stays that I am doing something different, it will come across as different too.”
