Gates Foundation 'honours' actor Rajeev Bhardwaj for his contribution to society

Rajeev Bharadwaj
Actor Rajeev Bhardwaj who is a computer engineer by profession is one of those actors who believe in working for social causes whenever he has time on hand!! Earlier in the year, Rajeev had anchored big fund raising campaigns organized by Gates Foundation for women empowerment and for betterment of orphans. He had aggressively campaigned in Western India, MP, Delhi, Himachal and many other places, and even devised techniques to entertain people and convince them to help the needy by donating huge money. Rajeev who is presently seen in Sony TV’s Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap in the role of Raawat Chundawat is immensely pleased that the foundation managed to collect lakhs of donations, which will now be used for the empowerment of women, orphans and other social causes around the country. And what’s more? The Gates Foundation in a felicitation function held recently in Delhi, awarded Rajeev for his outstanding contribution to the society by naming him as the ‘Person of the Year’ in the television category – Male. Rajeev’s mother received the award from actor Sushant Singh (of The Legend of Bhagat Singh fame (one of the jury members)) on Rajeev’s behalf. Tellychakkar.com contacted Rajeev to congratulate him on this achievement and he went on to share his happiness of being part of this great cause. “Being a professional anchor and actor, I was recommended by a journalist friend of mine for this particular campaign to raise funds for women, orphans and even for cancer patients. As the anchor, I campaigned in various parts of India and entertainingly convinced people to help raising funds.” “In both the rural and urban sectors, women need help as many lack education. Many are downtrodden for various reasons, and few suffer from broken relationships. All the funds raised will help for the empowerment of such women. And I am happy to have been part of this campaign,” explains Rajeev. The felicitation function held in Delhi was a grand success. Rajeev who is presently shooting for a movie along with shooting for Maharana Pratap, could not attend the function, and his mother accepted the award on his behalf. Sharing this happy moment with us, Rajeev states, “This moment made my mom very proud. While receiving the honour, she said that this little contribution for women made by her son makes her a proud mother. It was a very emotional moment for her, and I am glad that I made her proud.” Three cheers to Rajeev for this noble deed!!
