I will never leave Lapataganj for films - Sucheta Khanna

Sucheta Khanna
Sucheta Khanna is quite happy with her rustic character of Indumati in SAB TV’s Lapataganj Season 2 (Garima Productions). Says the actress, “We are playing a lot with newer kinds of stories; some work while others don’t.” She also points out that within the limitations of desi TV her character has shown growth. “At first the kids of my character were shown to be very small, today my on screen son is a teenager.” But amidst all this, we tell her that her character has not aged. To this, Sucheta clarifies, “Well, women in rural areas get married at an early age. So if a woman got married at the age of 18 and her son is around 16, she will be more or less closer to my real age. So I guess it is fine.” After playing Indumati for so long, the ratings of the show does not affect her anymore. “It might do very good or bad, but frankly speaking, I don’t care anymore. I am putting in my best and my fans are appreciating what I am doing.” We then turn our attention to films, and remind her that her last big screen outing Yamla Pagla Deewena did not do too well at the box office. “Well, may be the content was not good. I really worked hard donning different avatars, but then each film comes with its own destiny.” On her future projects on the big screen, the actress states, “I have one more film in the pipeline, but I don’t want to talk about it till the shoot starts as I am a bit superstitious about these things.” However here she makes it clear that she will not leave Laptaganj for any other big screen project. “I don’t think I should have any problems, for my producers (Ashwini Dheer) are kind enough to adjust my dates.” Have a great future, Sucheta…
