MUMBAI : Prateek Sharma and Parth Shah’s Jamai No. 1, which is produced under their banner Studio LSD, went on air December 9 on Zee TV. The first five episodes of the show have taken the viewers inside the lives of Riddhi and Neel. The former doesn’t take no for an answer and leads a very close life that mainly revolves around her mother, and the latter is as colorful and as vibrant as one can be; he is a risk-taker and loves his family dearly. But what’s common between the two is that they both know how to get things done their way and are fearless.
Riddhi and Neel’s first meeting was nothing but a sheer coincidence; however, she took all the events that led to their chance meeting very personally. In fact, what followed after showed Neel a glimpse of the trouble Riddhi is, a no-nonsense woman who is bold and fierce. While Neel did save Riddhi’s life when she was in an argument with the workers of her company, she is not one to forgive him for his mistake of hurting and insulting her mother.
His punishment is that they have blacklisted him from all the companies in the Maharashtra region, which has made it difficult for him to get a job in the state. But as luck would have it, Riddhi’s maternal grandmother saw his potential and understood that he is the only one who can actually fix the dysfunctional Chotwani family and shared a card with him with her signature and assured him that he will get a job there.
So far we have understood that both Riddhi and Neel have led very different lives. While Neel grew up with the love and blessings of his parents, Riddhi, since childhood, saw her mother struggle in her marriage and her father leaving them when she was too young to even understand what separation means. Riddhi not only grew up without love, but seeing her mother’s tears made her overprotective towards her, so much so that she can go to any lengths to fulfill her wishes.
Even the slightest discomfort on her mother’s face brings tears to Riddhi’s eyes, and she goes back to the time when her father was leaving them. Neel, on the other hand, has a lot of responsibility on him and wants to give his family not luxury but a rather comfortable life.
They are like two poles that are way apart from each other to be described in words. But as they say, opposites attract each other; it will be interesting to see how Riddhi and Neel come closer and eventually get married. For now, the dream to become Jamai No. 1 seems like a far-fetched goal.
