Jhalak… put on hold

There is bad news for dance enthusiasts who have enjoyed seeing celebs dance away on reality shows. Both the dance reality shows Nach Baliye and Jhalak Dikhhla jaa are not slated to go on air this year. According to sources, Jhalak Dikhhlaa Jaa will follow Nach Baliye as it will also not go on air for a year as the channel wants to concentrate on Dance Premiere League exclusively. Where Nach Baliye’s season five is put on hold, season four of Jhalak Dikkhlaa Jaa may not go on air this year. It may return only next year. Informs a source, “Jhalak Dikkhlaa Jaa has been put on hold as Sony is currently focusing on their big ticket show, DPL. The channel wants to make it as big as possible and so Jhalak… is not happening this year. One can’t have two dance shows at one time and DPL has big faces and one can’t risk such a huge show. Jhalak… will have to wait for another year.” We sent a text message to Gurdeep Bhangoo, Programming Head, Sony Entertainment Television and Saul Nasse, BBC Worldwide Content and Productions India GM and Creative Head but they both didn’t revert. The only thing that’s constant is change and the channels are reviving and reworking on their strategies to rake in TRPs and viewership by bringing in new shows and putting on hold the old ones which hadn’t done well in their last seasons.
