Mark Farokh Parakh swears by the word diversity. He has already played a gay character, Siddharth Kanwar, in Mahi Way and a tech wizard Ayush in Khotey Sikkey. Now he is playing the role of a woman trapped in a man’s body, a comic negative character Vijendra Singh, in Sony’s Dekha Ek Khwaab produced by Rose Audio Visual Productions. And though the role is quite challenging, Mark is having a ball enacting it.
“Vijendra aka Vijay bhai, the grandson of Rajmata Mrinalini Devi (Aruna Irani) and son of Mainka Singh (Sujata Sehgal), does not like Manyata (Priyal Gor). He sees her as a threat to his dream of sitting on the throne. Hence he acts evil, devious and sly but in a comic way which provides much needed emotional relief,” says Mark to Tellychakkar.com.
Furthermore, this 26 year Parsi hunk from Mumbai describes his character as “someone who is quite woman like i.e. back bitcher (chugli khor), one who makes a mountain out of a molehill and always talks in a sarcastic tone.”
Hmm…we wonder what the women folk have to say about your opinion. Anyways, coming to the current track in the serial, he says, “Both Jaynandini (Shritama Mukherje) and Manyata are throwing surprise parties and I will join hands with Jayanandini to make Manyata look bad in front of the royal family.”
That sounds interesting. He further goes on to say that he likes to play different characters. “In Dekha…I am not gayish. It’s just that I grew up in woman’s company, hence I think like them.”
So he doesn’t want to play a regular guy? “Wasn’t Ayush a regular guy? However, I don’t want to be seen as a chocolate guy dancing around trees.”
Finally, the pianist turned actor tells us that he has also read in the media about Mahi Way and Khotey Sikkey coming back on the screen. “But YRF has not informed me yet. Anyways, I will always remain grateful to them as they gave me my first break. Even if they call me for a small role, I will readily agree to it,” ends Mark.
