My school friends congratulate me on my 'Jhalak' performances: Akshat Singh

The wonder kid, Akshat Singh is definitely one of the most adored contestants on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 7 (Colors, produced by BBC Worldwide Media). And it wouldn’t be wrong to call him a tough contender on the dance reality show given the fact that he has thrived so many weeks. His performances have taken the judges and the guests by surprise. So, does dancing make him happy? “It makes me very very happy. Especially dancing on Jhalak for it helped me meet Sallu Bhai (Salman Khan),” says Akshat with confidence. He further goes on to add, “I’ve also met Akshay Kumar and Mithun Da (Chakraborty). I also like Mithun Sir because he too is from Kolkata.” Who is your favourite judge? (Thinks for a second and answers) “Madhuri (Dixit) Mam. She is very good in classical. I also like her expressions. Even the way she says ‘perfect’,” says the little one with a giggle. Usually we hear contestants complain about reality shows being tedious but Akshat makes it sound all fun. “I rehearse for three to four hours a day after which we have fun. We go out to eat, watch movies, etc. I watched Kick last week. I also loved the mein dil mein aata hoon dialogue of Salman Khan.” Apart from dancing this little wonder likes playing cricket and studying. Yes, he must be away from school but not from his books. “I love studying. I have all my books with me and I study a lot,” confesses he. Is he a star back home now? “I keep getting calls from my school friends congratulating me on my performances. They have been constantly voting for me and I just hope the others around too vote for me. That’s the only thing that can take me to finals for I usually get a 30 on the score board,” reminds the artist. Lastly we ask him what he’d like to be once he grows up and he states, “I’d like to be a well known actor like Sallu Bhai.” We hope you achieve your dreams Akshat.
