Sandeepa Dhar and Veebha Anand join Ekta Kapoor's ‘The Godfather’ adaption

Sandeepa Dhar and Veebha Anand

MUMBAI: Balaji film's head honcho Ekta Kapoor is bringing a new project on her digital platform ALT Balaji that is said to be on the lines of the iconic The Godfather series.  The venture, titled The Family, is apparently one of the most expensive Indian projects on the digital space with a budget of around 50 crores. Big faces hailing from film and television like Vivek Oberoi, Ravi Kissen and Rithvik Dhanjani have already been roped in to play the lead roles.

TellyChakkar has exclusive information about the femme fatale of the drama. According to our reliable sources, popular Bollywood actress Sandeepa Dhar, who has been part of films like Heropanti, has been signed in to play the leading lady. She'll essay the character of Kissen's sister in the narrative, which has pivotal presence in the screenplay.  With this, Dhar will also make her digital debut.

Along with the beautiful Dabangg 2 actress, prominent TV actress Veebha Anand has also joined the multistarrer.  Her character, sister of Rithvik's character, is one of the catalysts in the show. Anand is best known for her stints in dailies like Balika Vadhu, Kaise Yeh Yaariyan and such.p>

What do you think of Ekta Kapoor?

For the uninitiated, the story of The Family revolves around a gangster kin based in Mumbai and their struggle to rule the Mafia supremacy.

The shooting of the show has already begun, and the actresses have joined the unit as well. We couldn't get in touch with Sandeepa while Veebha confirmed the news with us but did not indulge any details.

The project really looks like an exciting one keeping in mind the stellar cast and the production value of it.
