A long running show is always incomplete without a leap which offers new twists and tales to the show. Keeping up with the trend is Star Plus' Sangam. The show is all set to take a leap of six to seven years which means that there will be new entries, an attempt to generate more viewership.
A source from the show informs, "There will be leap of six to seven years and three new faces will be introduced in the show. Two of them will be aged around 16 -17 who will essay the role of college going students and one will be a six year old kid. The shooting is expected to start from the third week of January and the leap will start airing from February."
So does this mean that the focus will now shift from the current leads Chaitanya Choudhary and Jennifer Winget to the new faces? "The leads would remain the same and in fact, the two stories will run parallel to each other. The two protagonists will help the story to move forward along with the new faces", quips our source.
Industry is also abuzz with the rumour that the show will go off-air in the early half of 2009. A source from industry says, "Sangam isn't doing as per expectations of late and the show is tipped to be pulled off in the first half of next year. The channel is planning to put an end to the slot completely."
"These all are baseless rumours. I have been hearing this every second day since the past six months. We are planning a leap and I don't see the show ending anytime soon," quips our source from the show.
When contacted, Chaitanya Choudhary too retorted, "The news is rubbish. I keep getting calls on a daily basis about the status of the show. We are not going off-air."
Well, we take you at your word, Chaitanya, but in an industry as unpredictable as ours, one can't be so sure about the fate of soaps!
