Neha Kakkar of Dhating Naach fame and former Indian Idol star Meiyang Chang released their new Punjabi single album named Hanju. The album traces the journey of two lovers (Neha and Chang) and the myriad problems that have set into their peaceful existence.
Neha who has given three back to back super hit songs this year from Jadoo Ki Jhappi, Dhating Naach and Sunny Sunny with Yo Yo Honey Singh, sounded upbeat while talking about her new single.“I love the mood of such songs which needs the artist to push their boundaries and take that extra effort to feel the song. I am thankful to my brother Tony Kakkar who has beautifully crafted the song. I am glad that I got a chance to work with Chang as he is truly talented. For the first time he is singing a Punjabi song and he has done a great job.”
For Chang who has been singing and acting in Bollywood numbers, Hanju represented a new challenge as he was crooning in Punjabi. “I am a big fan of the Kakkar khandaan and when Tony approached me to do a single I readily agreed. It is definitely my first Punjabi song but this song is also a departure for Neha from her peppy numbers. So in this single we both are trying to do something different from what we are expected to do”, said Meiyang Chang.
The music of the song has been composed by Neha's brother Tony. When asked the reason behind making a Punjabi song and not a Hindi one, Tony gave us a honest response. "It’s difficult to market a Hindi song as channels don't pick them up unless you have a big star involved. Punjabi helps us overcome that and also Punjabi channels will pick it up.”
Hanju also displays some palpable chemistry between Neha and Chang. In fact, Chang joked that after watching this video people started quizzing him if he was dating Neha who in reality is a close friend of Chang. But when asked if not Neha who he is dating currently, Chang opted for the diplomatic route. "A single man releases single," chuckled Chang.
