MUMBAI: On the International Day of Happiness, observed on March 20, former Bollywood actress and No More Tears non-governmental organization founder Somy Ali says that while she is happy her NGO is doing well, she is also excited about a birthday present she has been manifesting for quite some time.
She said, "Aside from No More Tears, there has been a completely different aspect of my life that stands on a single promise. While I can’t reveal what it is, on my birthday this March 25, I am very close to attaining my birthday present in the form of a promise that might be fulfilled after 20 years. I am hoping and manifesting with all my heart for it to come to fruition on my birthday. Because trust me, if that actually comes true, it will literally be the happiest day of my life. That’s all I can say right now."
"Additionally, I am very happy that my second short film, Gray, won at the South Asian International Film Festival of South Florida," she added.
Somy also revealed that her talk show, The Uncomfortable Conversation, is in the pipeline, and she is looking forward to having an amazing first guest. She said, "There will be no lies, or else there’s no point in my inviting people to be guests on my show."
She further shared that she wants NMT to grow, make movies, act in them, write scripts, and have her own feature film production company. "When you face roadblocks, you have to find ways to overcome them. You have to make efforts to win when the whole world wants you to lose, and that’s called being resilient. In fact, it’s easier now, as I can write what I want based on actual true-life stories, direct them, and produce them under my own banner, and there is no power in the world that can stop me from doing so. You simply can’t give up because of obstacles; on the contrary, you look them in the face and keep at it," she said.
"Right now, I am simply hoping I get the present I have been wishing for this March 25, and that will be the happiest day of my entire life," she added.
Somy also mentioned that NMT makes her the happiest, of course, and added, "Second is now my film production company, and third is the rebirth of NMT with chapters in India, definitely this year. Lastly, when I am down, making others happy makes me feel better and happy. I am also extremely pragmatic and a realist, and I fully comprehend that no one is always happy, no matter how much they try to show they are on social media. In fact, I have launched a brand-new line of NMT shirts, which are essentially walking billboards with various messages."
"One of my designs that I am working on will feature a cell phone stating 'Question the Social Media' on a T-shirt. Because no one portrays the actuality of their lives, and it’s all happiness all the time, which is humanly impossible. I enjoy moments of happiness, but if what I am hoping for on my birthday comes true, it will be the greatest happiness ever. I will cherish it to my grave. That’s how much it means to me," she said.
