Sonakshi Save: I would cry naturally in Muskaan, no glycerine required

MUMBAI: We all remember actor Sonakshi Save from Muskaan, for her effortless acting. The actor says that she was especially known and appreciated on the set for the fact that she could cry easily. “I was very excited to be part of the show as this was my first show and I was playing the lead. Our shoot started in Darjeeling and Kolkatta and then it shifted to Mumbai. In Darjeeling, we used to shoot in 0-degree temperature and sometimes in -2degree. We spent almost 25 days shooting in Darjeeling and Kolkata. All my co-stars, director and people on the set were very helpful for me. They used to treat me like their little sister on the shoot. We were like one big family and they all pampered me. Producer sir and director sir used to teach me every small technicality of acting while shooting. Since the topic of this serial was very sensitive as it showed the suffering of a small girl child with and without her reel mother, there was a lot of crying that was required in the story and every crying scene I used to do naturally, without applying glycerine. This was my speciality which the entire shooting unit used to talk about and this was my appreciation which I was getting from everyone which was very pleasing for me,” she says.

Talking about how she bagged the show, she says, “I was doing drama workshops with 'Balrangapeeth' with Gauri Kendre madam. She required a child girl artists, aged 6-7 years for their upcoming daily soap by Rashmi Sharma Telefilms. So, she referred my name to the production house. I went for an audition. I was the one out of around 50-60 girls, who had given the auditions for this particular role. Since the serial's topic was very matured and sensitive, the production house and the channel team was very keen on the selection process. After giving more than 10 to 12 audition rounds for the same, finally, I got selected!” she says.

Acting happened accidentally for the actor. “It was not planned but it just happened. Since the beginning, I was very interested in dancing and acting. I was also learning drama and acting during my summer vacations in a drama workshop and I started liking it. I am a big fan of Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone and I want to become a famous actress like them,” says Sonakshi, who is in the fourth grade at the moment.

Ask her how she manages her studies with work, and she says, “When I am shooting and I miss school, my friends help me by sharing their study notes. I also carry books to the shoot sometimes when exams are close. My mom and papa also help me a lot with my studies.”

Meanwhile, the actor was also seen in the show, Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki. “I played a cameo role called Pari. I was Harman and Soumya's school friend who used to help Saumya in her school while everyone used to hate her studying in the school. Doing this serial was also fun. It was an honour for me to be working with the teleserial's big superstars like Vivian Dsena and Rubina Dilaik on the set. There also everyone used to call me 'Muskaan' only. And I used to get special treatment on the set,” she says.
