STAR ex-CEO's wife arrested on murder charges

STAR ex-CEO

There are many bizarre stories in crime, but this one might just take the cake. Mumbai cops have arrested TV honcho Peter Mukherjea’s wife Indrani Mukherjea for the alleged murder of their daughter, Sheena Bora.

The case, which is almost three years old, came to light when Indrani’s driver was picked up by the police following a tip-off. When grilled, the driver confessed to dumping the body in the forests of Raigad. Where the Raigad cops confirmed the charred remains of an unidentified female body. Based on his confessions, the cops picked up Indrani, who was arrested post a three-hour grilling session.

Both of them were produced in the Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate's court on Tuesday, with cops getting their custody till August 31. The duo has been booked under Sections 302 (murder), 363 (kidnapping) and 201 (destroying evidence) of the Indian Penal Code.

Even though the motive for the murder remains unclear so far, Indrani’s husband Peter Mukherjea while speaking to CNN IBN said, "Sheena was having an affair with my younger son and Indrani did not approve of their relationship," he said. What’s quite dramatic about this high-profile case is the people involved and the way they covered their tracks for three long years after the apparent murder.
