Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s Gurucharan Singh breaks his silence on Asit Modi and Jennifer Mistry’s controversy

The actor, who portrayed the male lead opposite Jennifer in TMKOC, revealed that he attempted to mediate their differences on his own but refrained out of fear and a desire to avoid any kind of public humiliation.

MUMBAI : Actor Gurucharan Singh, who was absent from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah for some time, has spoken out over the incident between Asit Modi and Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal. The actor, who portrayed the male lead opposite Jennifer in TMKOC, revealed that he attempted to mediate their differences on his own but refrained out of fear and a desire to avoid any kind of public humiliation.

Opening up on Asit Modi and Jennifer Mistry’s controversy, Gurucharan said, “Main iss baare mein do baatein bolunga. Main Jennifer ji se mila tha, unse kaafi baat hui. Main Asit bhai ke paas bhi jaata tha kyunki woh mere kuch cheezein unse thi… Maine yeh koshish ki thi ki un dono ki mulakat ho jaaye. Ye maine 100 percent koshish ki thi. Kuch aisa ho gaya tha ki lag raha tha ki mere pe koi baat na ho jaaye iss cheez pe. Kyunki kabhi kabhi jo help karne jaata hai na woh bekasur se kasurwaar ho jaata hai. Maine yeh try kiya tha ki dono ki mulakat ho, baith ke usko sort out kare.”

An FIR was filed in 2023 against executive producer Jatin Bajaj, operation head Sohail Ramani, and producer Asit Modi of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Jennifer mentioned Asit Modi frequently and revealed that he had made "sexual advances" and attempted to flirt with her. Following these accusations and the Asit complaint, Jennifer was apparently found to be the beneficiary of the verdict.

The Delhi Police received a grievous complaint from Gurucharan's distraught father earlier in April, who described his son's abrupt abduction after leaving for Mumbai. The actor was using several bank accounts, the authorities discovered after their initial probe. The report went on to say that after returning home, Gurucharan Singh told the police that he had left his material life behind to go on a holy pilgrimage. After going missing, Gurucharan Singh eventually made his first trip back to Mumbai in July.
