MUMBAI: Unmatched love is evoked by Sony SAB's eagerly awaited mythical masterpiece, Veer Hanuman! From his early years to the realisation of his superpowers, the show chronicles the amazing journey of Lord Hanuman. Arav Chowdharry plays Kesari, Sayli Salunkhe plays Anjani, Mahir Pandhi plays both Bali and Sugriv, and the incredibly gifted Aan Tiwari plays the child Lord Hanuman. The production boasts an amazing ensemble cast. In addition to its compelling narrative, the show is expected to enthral viewers with its stunning visuals.
Inspired by the amazing workmanship of the Ajanta and Ellora caves, the show's elaborately crafted costumes are one of its most notable features. Every ensemble has been painstakingly created to provide cinematic grandeur while capturing the majesty and authenticity of ancient Indian tradition. The sophisticated colour scheme, fine stitching, and complex themes of the clothing complement the superb craftsmanship of the statues and murals found in these famous caverns. Veer Hanuman not only enhances its visual beauty but also magnificently honours and celebrates India's rich cultural heritage by incorporating these classic elements into its clothing.
Costume designer Shibapriya Sen discussed the show's aesthetic appeal, saying, "Each costume captures the grandeur of ancient times, inspired by the stunning Ajanta and Ellora caves." Our objective was to design clothing and jewellery that evokes historical authenticity while also being aesthetically pleasing. Kesari's mukut (crown) reflects India's historic mountains and landscapes, while Anjani's clothing consists of genuine Kanjivaram sarees made from pure South silk Kanjeevarams from Chennai and Benarasis from Banaras. We hope that each image celebrates the enduring beauty of India's past and makes an effect on viewers.
"Being Anjani is going to be a really enriching experience, and one of the most beautiful aspects of this show will be the stunning costumes," said Sayli Salunkhe, who portrays the character in Veer Hanuman. The rich legacy of that era is reflected in the style, which was greatly influenced by the artistic magnificence of the Ajanta and Ellora caves. Anjani's magnificent and regal aura is further enhanced by the rich purple and scarlet hues, which are embellished with complex multicoloured floral designs. I can better capture the spirit of the character when I'm dressed in these exquisitely created ensembles."
