There was considerable gap in the TV industry with Sakshi, Mona and Aamna being not around: Sneha Rajani

Sony Entertainment Television, Business Head, Sneha Rajani
At the launch press conference of Hongey Judaa Naa Hum that stars Aamna Sharif and Raqesh Vashisht, Tellychakkar. Com caught up with Sony Entertainment Television, Business Head, Sneha Rajani who talked about the show and more. Talking about the timing of the show, an excited Sneha observed, “The moment I heard that it was only for the 9 pm or 9.30 pm slot, I was super excited. This had come at a right time since we had to end Saas Bina Sasural that was airing at 9 pm. So, it has been a perfect timing.” About the concept, Sneha averred, “Gone are the days when me too (copy cat) stuff would work. Today, the audience wants different concepts with relatable characters that they consume.” Asked about the reason for penciling in Aamna as the female lead in Hongey Judaa…, Sneha answered, “tell me who else.” She continued, “There was considerably a big gap in the industry with talented actresses like Sakshi Tanwar, Mona Singh and Aamna not around. The only reason why they were not seen on TV for so long was that they were not getting meaty roles. And the moment Sony offered them the same, they were all back to where they belong, Sakshi in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Mona in in Kyaa Hua Tera Vaada and now Aamna.” Moving away from the topic, we then quizzed Sneha about her thoughts about the latest season of Indian Idol 6 that recently wrapped up to which she said, “I feel it was the best season till date. The talent displayed in the show was phenomenal. And the top four were superb. Agreed, that the numbers were not great, they were just above average. According to me, a certain amount of viewer fatigue has set in regarding the song and dance routine. It is time that we need to give the format a break of a year or two.” Finally, we asked the SET Business Head about KBC that has been on the channel season-after-season “Firstly, it is not just a game show, it’s much more. There is a great deal of audience connect. And when we see contestants from place we have never heard about, we root for them. But if they goof up, we feel bad. Also, we can’t rule out the importance of Mr Bachchan, his personality and his humility. I am sure that, had we chosen somebody else in his place, the show would not have worked. We are very proud and humbled to have him on board,” Sneha concluded.
