When Ramayan's Manthra Lalita Pawar was slapped hard by a veteran Bollywood actor

Ramayan actress Lalita Pawar's life changed forever after this incident.

MUMBAI: Doordarshan’s Ramayan, even though a classic show, has given a refreshing experience to the viewers amid these crucial times. The viewers are getting nostalgic seeing their favourite stars on this popular show after ages.

A lot has been spoken about the show and the actors and unheard stories are getting revealed on social media.

After talking about the central characters like Ram, Sita, Laxman, Ravan, today we have another interesting story of one of the legendary characters of Ramayan and it's none other than Lalita Pawar.

The actress played the role of vamp Manthara in the epic mythological series which is still remembered by the viewers.

Lalita is still known for her negative roles in various TV shows and serials but her character in Ramayan became one of the iconic characters.

Well, Lalita looked like a vamp with her cunning, ugly and antagonistic appearance. But there's a story behind Lalita's look which made her bag this role of Manthara.

We all know Lalita's one eye was injured. In 1942, while filming for Jung-E-Azadi, actor Master Bhagwan had to slap her hard in a scene. Being a new actor, he accidentally slapped her very hard, which resulted in facial paralysis and a burst left eye vein.

Even after three years of treatment, Lalita was left with her defective left eye. The actress stopped getting lead roles in movies due to her defective eye. However, Lalita didn't stop and pursued her career by switching to character roles, which won her much fame later in life.

Lalita who played the devious hunchback Manthara won several accolades for the same.
