MUMBAI: Anirudh Pathak under his banner Writers Galaxy is working on the magnum opus Mughal- E- Azam on Colors. The talented writer, who has wooed the audience with his past works with Sony TV’s Prithvi Vallabh and Star Bharat’s Chandra Shekhar Azad, is determined to go big with the upcoming show.
A little birdie confirms to TellyChakkar that television’s most desirable hunk Shaheer Sheikh will be essaying the character of Salim in the historical saga. While the choice for the male protagonist was brisk and easy, it is the female protagonist that has become the makers’ nemesis.
A reliable source exclusively reveals to TellyChakkar that the hunt for the role of Anarkali is leaving the makers hassled. “They can’t find the apt face for Anarkali, probably they are not hunting in the right place,” says a source.
Apparently, their inceptive notion was to cast a fresh face. However, after a nationwide look for a callow and petite countenance, the producers started opting for experienced actresses.

“Around hundreds of girls have been auditioned as of now,” a little birdie reveals.
Mahima Makwana has also auditioned for the role. “Being a good actor and an impressive dancer, Mahima was considered for the role. Apparently, things are not in her favour. The beautiful Sonarika Bhadoria is another contender running ahead in the list. Bhadoria has also worked with the production house in their previous show on Sony TV. Nonetheless, the reason why the makers are doubtful about her is that since she played a fierce character in Prithvi, they (the makers) are sceptical to see her in a docile character of Anarkali. However, if they don’t find any suitable face, Bhadoria will be the girl,” another source reveals.
As per our information, the project is getting delayed since they can’t find the apt face. Now Writers Galaxy is looking for more options, which means an extensive hunt will occur across the nation. “To find such a pretty face they might look out for Pakistani girls as well,” an insider adds.

The casting is on full swing for the TV adaption. As per latest developments, apparently, Alyy Khan is going to play Akbar’s character. Earlier, TellyChakkar reported that Nawab Shah and Alyy Khan were in top contention for the iconic character. While there’s still no confirmation yet, the latest developments state that the weighing scale inclines more towards Khan’s side. “Chances of Alyy to play Akbar are the most,” a reliable source confirms.
