In sharp contrast to his image as Bollywood’s bad guy, actor Yashpal Sharma has struck a chord with the audience as the mild manner, middle-class man Bhagwan Das in his latest outing on television – Zee TV’s Neeli Chhatri Waale. His portrayal of the harried, hassled common man has been highly appreciated by the viewers and has clinched him an award at the recently held Zee Rishtey Awards in the category ‘Sabse Achi Dosti’ along with his co-star Himanshu Soni who plays Lord Shivaye and one for ‘Sabse Acha Beta’.
The chronicles of man and his journey of discovering his inner voice through a friendship with God in the show has clearly caught on with the viewers.
It is interesting to note that this is Yashpal Sharma’s very first trophy in his entire career and that too for a positive role, when it has been considered his forte to play negative roles flawlessly.
An elated Yashpal Sharma says, “I was very disappointed when I didn't get any awards for Gangajal, Lagaan, Apharan and Ab Tak Chappan's nomination but I am so delighted to bag the trophy for this show. It will always remain close to my heart as it’s my first award so far. I would like to thank Zee TV, my audience and a special thanks to my director Ashwani Dheer for having offered me a role that is completely opposite to my image that the viewers had otherwise built in their minds.”
It’s just the start Yashpal!!!
