MUMBAI: Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming has confirmed that South African batter Dewald Brevis is being considered for selection ahead of their IPL 2025 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday, April 25.

Brevis, who was not picked in the IPL 2025 auction, was later brought into the CSK setup as a replacement for the injured Gurjapneet Singh. The young right-hander has featured in 10 IPL matches so far, accumulating 230 runs.
When questioned about the possibility of Brevis making his first appearance for CSK in the upcoming fixture, Fleming acknowledged that the 20-year-old is among the options on the table.
"He's one of the options that we'll look at. We've got other players as well who have been with us for the whole tournament. Brevis is a good addition to the squad, but we just have to manage what we think would be the best team, given the players that have been working away with us, and also look at the impact that Brevis can have. So that's part of the discussion," Fleming said.
Fleming also touched upon the struggles of CSK's middle order, pointing out that a lack of confidence and inability to build on good starts have hindered the team's batting performances this season.
"It's a mix of things - maybe confidence is low. The IPL is tough. Players are getting started - 20s and 30s - but we haven't converted those into big scores. We're missing that one 75+ innings that sets up the rest of the team. So the batting order hasn't quite clicked, and we haven't had a single performance worthy of our 'honours board' this year," he explained.
As the five-time champions look to regroup and strengthen their lineup, all eyes will be on whether Brevis gets his chance to shine in yellow for the first time this Friday.
