MUMBAI: Rishabh Pant has been seen putting in significant effort during training ahead of each match, determined to rediscover his batting touch. The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain, also the IPL’s costliest Indian player, has intensified his net sessions in hopes of regaining form.

So far, Pant has struggled with the bat, scoring just 19 runs from 32 balls across four innings. However, LSG’s solid start to the 2025 campaign—three wins from five matches—has kept the spotlight off his personal performance. The team currently sits fifth on the points table.
LSG’s next challenge is against table-toppers Gujarat Titans (GT), a side they’ve historically struggled against, having lost four out of five meetings since both franchises joined the IPL in 2022. GT have been clinical this season as well, winning four of their five matches.
LSG are hoping for a repeat of their recent home success, when they scored a franchise-record 203/8 on a black-soil surface at the Ekana Stadium. They’ll use the same pitch again, though the venue is typically spin-friendly.
GT, led by Shubman Gill, will be wary of Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh—two dangerous LSG batters. Pooran has been in sensational form, notably smashing an unbeaten 87 from 36 balls against KKR and amassing 288 runs in five innings, including three fifties.
