MUMBAI: Yuzvendra Chahal delivered a match-winning spell, claiming 4 wickets for 28 runs, as Punjab Kings pulled off a stunning 16-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday. Defending a modest total of just 111—the lowest ever successfully defended in a full 20-over IPL match—Punjab staged a remarkable comeback at Mullanpur near Chandigarh. Despite Kolkata reaching 62/2 and seemingly cruising, Chahal’s leg-spin dismantled their batting order, triggering a collapse to 95 all out in just 15.1 overs. Earlier, Punjab had been dismissed for 111 in 15.3 overs, but their bowling unit turned the tide, breaking Chennai Super Kings’ previous record of defending 116 runs in 2009.
