MUMBAI: We usually see that when a new movie releases, the film that was released in the earlier week starts dropping at the box office. But, with Drishyam 2, that’s not happening. The Ajay Devgn starrer was released on 18th November 2022, and after Drishyam 2, Varun Dhawan starrer Bhediya was released, and later Ayushmann Khurrana starrer An Action Hero was released.
Drishyam 2 collected more than the Varun Dhawan starrer at the box office in its second week, and the same thing happened in the third week also with An Action Hero. Now, on its fourth Friday, once again Drishyam 2 has ruled at the box office with a collection of Rs. 2.62 crores.
This week, multiple films were released in theatres and one of them is Kajol starrer Salaam Venky. The film was promoted well, but it looks like the concept didn’t appeal to moviegoers much.
As per early estimates, the Kajol starrer has collected Rs. 60 lakh on day one which is quite disappointing. On the other hand, Drishyam 2 minted Rs.2.62 crore on the fourth Friday. So, even in its fourth week, the Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer is the first choice of moviegoers.
Well, we can only expect Drishyam 2 to slow down next as Avatar: The Way of Water releases in theatres. The total collection of Drishyam 2 till now is Rs. 198.92 crores, and with today’s (Saturday) collection, it will reach the Rs. 200 crore club.
