Relating the atmosphere of competition to that of a racehorse, Akshay said, “When they categorise an actor as number one or two, I feel like a Mahalaxmi ka ghoda running in a race. Hindi cinema produces about 190-200 films a year, and with the South film industry included, there are many films but just 8 to 12 leading actors. So why should we fight over who’s number one? Everyone has work. The whole idea is to just work.”

He addressed criticism over his prolific work rate, stating, “A lot of people question why I do 4 films a year. I don’t understand this. It’s the first time I’ve heard someone ask why I work so much. Have you ever heard anyone question why someone works? I do 4 films a year, and people have a problem with that.”

Akshay also expressed doubts about the reliability of movie reviews in the modern era. Although star ratings can be bought, he values the opinions of reliable movie critics.

“Being in the industry for so long, you become thick-skinned, nothing affects you. But it’s most welcoming when a credible critic talks about it. I take and value that feedback. Over time, you learn who the good critics are and who the bad ones are. We know some things can be bought, including stars. When I read good critics, I take their feedback seriously. But now, it’s become very chaotic with anyone able to critique.”

The latest Akshay films 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,' 'Mission Raniganj,' and 'Selfiee' have not done well at the box office, despite his best efforts.

On July 12, he will star in the official Hindi version of the Tamil film 'Soorarai Pottru,' titled 'Sarfira.' The movie is based on the life of GR Gopinath, who gave the average person access to reasonably priced flying.
