The Ranbir Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra- Ileana D'Cruz-starrer Barfi! recently won the Grand Jury Award for Best Film at this year’s (2013) Okinawa International Film Festival, Japan.
The film, directed by Anurag Basu was featured in the competition section along with last year's most acclaimed critical successes from across the world including <em>Beasts of the Southern Wild</em> (USA) that had received four Academy Awards nominations and has already won three awards at Cannes 2012.

The Ranbir Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra- Ileana D'Cruz-starrer Barfi! recently won the Grand Jury Award for Best Film at this year’s (2013) Okinawa International Film Festival, Japan.
The film, directed by Anurag Basu was featured in the competition section along with last year's most acclaimed critical successes from across the world including Beasts of the Southern Wild (USA) that had received four Academy Awards nominations and has already won three awards at Cannes 2012.
Says an excited Anurag Basu, "This is not an honour just for me or my film. To me this honour is for the whole country. This award proves that Barfi! is an universal movie. I am also happy to win against Oscar nominated movies because few people thought Barfi!'s selection for the Oscar was a wrong decision."
The chairman of the jury was legendary filmmaker Joel Schumacher and memory of Geisha fame Kaori Momoi.
Produced by UTV Motion Pictures, Barfi! was India's official entry to the Academy Awards this year.
