MUMBAI: While actors from the industry are hardly quizzed about their work plans post-marriage, this question often spurs up for female stars.
Even though things and perspectives are now changing and domestic responsibility is being seen as equal, we have witnessed times when actresses have quit the silver screen after their marriage. Some Bollywood actresses were at the peak of their careers at that point in time.
The reasons behind the same were many - some wanted to pursue other interests, some wanted to settle down and some wanted to dedicate their time to their families. Even though the decision to quit was entirely theirs to make, there is no harm in admitting that we miss having them on the silver screen.
Here, check out the list of divas who bid adieu to their acting careers:
After starring in popular films like Haseena Maan Jayegi, Farz and others, actress Babita had a promising career ahead of her. However, post marrying Randhir Kapoor, she stayed off the silver screen. Her time in the industry as an actress was short but notable.
Now a published author and entrepreneur, Twinkle Khanna married actor Akshay Kumar and after that left the industry. Her last film was Love Ke Liye Kuchh Bhi Karega opposite Saif Ali Khan and Fardeen Khan. Twinkle Khanna happens to be one of those few former actresses who have worked with all the Khans of Bollywood.

After her performance in Swades, Gayatri Joshi became a fan favourite, and avid moviegoers were rooting for her to star in more movies. However, she bid adieu to the industry after she married businessman Vivek Oberoi.
Another talented actress who quit the industry after marriage would be the Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai debutant Namrata Shirodkar. She tied the knot with Telugu actor Mahesh Babu in 2005 and has not made a comeback since.
One can never possibly forget the iconic movie Damini starring Sunny Deol, Meenakshi Seshadri, and late actor Rishi Kapoor. After the success of the movie, many rooted for Meenakshi to give more such powerful performances. But nearly 4 years later, she quit the industry and moved to the US to care for her kids.
