Delhi taxi rape: Bollywood expresses outrage and concern

Delhi has once again proved itself to be India's national capital of shame when a 25-year old was raped by the driver of Uber cab service inside the rented cab that she had flagged down on Friday night. Thankfully, after evading the cops for two days, the accused has now been arrested and remanded.

The brutal shamed inflicted again on a woman has outraged the country and Bollywood denizens too took to Twitter to express their umbrage.

Akshay Kumar was one of the first ones to tweet. Wrote Khiladi Kumar, "You hire a cab thinking it's safer and pay more but sadly even that isn't an option anymore. Not sure how many more such incidents before we have stricter laws! #DelhiShamedAgain.”

Filmmaker Karan Johar tweeted, "Appalled at the @Uber incident! If they didn't do an adequate background check of the driver they have no reason to operate anywhere!”

Singer and activist Vishal Dadlani wrote, "Taking a cab alone at night? Take a picture of the driver, with the number plate & send it to a friend. Should act as a basic deterrent."

Actor Ronit Roy wrote, "Just the other day, a friend was recommending Uber very highly...Now this! It's like the guard at ur home robbing U!”

Actress Rhea Chakraborty wrote, "It's a shame# Uber Shame. Women in India need justice. We are sick of being raped and molested. Demand justice now.”

Incidents like these only go to show how unsafe women in our country are. A recent experiment conducted by Tellychakkar.com where we mock staged an eve teasing episode with TV actress Yashashri Masurkar produced shocking results with none of the bystanders coming forward to help the girl in distress.
