The ensemble cast included actors like Dia Mirza, Ratna Pathak Shah, Kumud Mishra, Tanvi Azmi, Ram Kapoor.
The film’s director Anubhav Sinha, who enjoys teaming up with his actor friends over and over again revealed that Ayushmann Khurrana was being considered for a shot.
He shared, “Yes, we were playing on the idea of having him in a passing shot. So, we worked out on a plan to have him in a cameo as a cab driver. At the time, while we were shooting Thappad in Lucknow, and Ayushmann was shooting for Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan in Banaras. So, logistically, it didn’t work out.”
Interestingly, after watching Thappad, the actor had taken to his social media to praise the film. Calling it a “masterclass”, he also pointed out that it is “the most important film of our generation”. While the duo missed the chance to work together then they are currently working on their new film Anek which is slated to release later the year.
Thappad was one of the most talked movies of the year for several reasons. The movie revolves around a happily married couple Amruta and Vikram (played by Taapsee and Pavail respectively), their happy moments, struggles to build a home and how selflessly the wife invested herself in the marriage. However, their world turns upside down post a ‘thappad’.
